Blue light glasses designed to be worn

Blue light glasses protect your eyes from the blue light emitted by digital screens and artificial lighting. While filtering efficiency is an important feature, it is not enough on its own. Glasses should also look good, fit comfortably, and withstand years of daily use. Lumenoir was born from the need to combine these qualities into a single frame. Each of our models is designed in Finland, and the materials are selected with the same care as those used in high-quality designer eyewear.

We know what the market looks like. Inexpensive blue light glasses are everywhere, but few of them feel like an investment. Lumenoir's mission is to provide an alternative where you don't have to compromise on style to get protection. The result is an accessory you’ll want to keep on your face even when you aren't in front of a screen.

Lumenoir - blue light protection meets design

Lumenoir is a Finnish brand specializing in blue light filtration and frame design. We believe that glasses should be a conscious style choice. That is why every Lumenoir frame is designed with the same precision as designer glasses that cost many times more.

Materials are chosen based on durability and comfort. We use premium acetate and stainless steel, materials familiar from the production of luxury eyewear. The same materials are found in the frames of top European brands. Our lenses effectively filter the harmful portion of blue light while maintaining natural colors and contrast.

While most blue light glasses on the market focus solely on function, Lumenoir combines protection with aesthetics. Every detail, from the hinge attachment to the frame's surface finish, is designed to serve both durability and appearance. Learn more about the Lumenoir story and design philosophy.

Blue light is a high-energy part of the visible light spectrum. It occurs in natural sunlight in appropriate amounts, helping the body regulate its circadian rhythm and alertness. The problem arises when digital screens and LED lighting increase exposure significantly above natural levels.

Prolonged exposure to the blue wavelength of artificial light (400–455 nanometers) can strain the eyes. Symptoms include fatigue, dryness, irritation, and headaches, especially after long workdays. Many also experience blurred vision and difficulty concentrating towards the evening after having worked in front of screens for several hours. In the evening, blue light from screens interferes with melatonin production, making it harder to fall asleep and reducing sleep quality. Blue light blocking glasses filter out the harmful portion of the light and make working in front of screens as well as relaxing more comfortable.

The best blue light glasses stand out in three areas: filtration efficiency, frame materials, and fit.

Filtration efficiency indicates what percentage of blue light the lenses block. With clear lenses, filtration is typically in the 30–50 percent range, which is sufficient for daytime use and provides a natural viewing experience. Yellow and orange lenses filter more and are particularly suitable for evening use, though they noticeably alter colors.

Frame material directly affects durability and comfort. Acetate is a lightweight and flexible material also used in high-quality prescription glasses. Stainless steel offers a thin and minimalist frame structure. In both options, the quality of the hinges and the finish of the frame are crucial, as they determine the lifespan of the glasses.

Fit determines how comfortable the glasses are to wear for hours on end. Frames that are too tight pinch the temples. Frames that are too loose won't stay in place. Well-designed frames are lightweight, balanced, and dimensioned for long periods of use. When glasses fit properly, you don't even think about them during the workday. This is a sign of successful design.
